Well baby #3 seems to have a mind of it's own and it hasn't even met it's brothers yet. At our 36 week checkup I was already dilated but an ultrasound confirmed my sneaking suspicion that this baby is breech. So I had two options plan a c-section or try and external version. I chose the external version just in hope the baby would cooperate and flip. Prior to the version we did try some alternative methods to get the baby to flip such as acupuncture and moxabustion.
The version was done last Thursday morning at the hospital. After four iv attempts, two doctors tried four times to flip the baby. On the fourth attempt the baby did end up for the most part head down. After being monitored for a little while I went home feeling sore and exhausted basically like I had just given birth.
When I woke up the next morning I had a bad feeling that this baby had flipped back since I once again felt a hard ball in the middle of my belly. Sure enough ultrasound confirmed the baby had flipped back sometime overnight.
This latest development FINALLY made Kent come to a realization - we are having a third child! In two days we bought a minivan and a set of bunk beds for the boys. We also had two showings on our house yesterday because what else would you want to do three days before a c-section is clean your house!
We are scheduled for a c-section this Thursday at 1200. It is strange for us to have everything planned in advance since the last time Dillon accompanied us to the hospital only to be picked up 20 minutes before Collin came into the world! We are praying for a healthy and safe delivery and will do our best to keep everyone updated on our newest addition.
The boys have no idea the baby is coming this week and since they will be going to school Thursday and Friday we decided not to tell them about it until after the birth. I am sure these innocent faces will do great with a new baby in the house.
